This is one of those great experiences. I was trying to photograph this mother moose and her young but the brush was so thick it blocked my view. I waited for an opportunity while they browsed the willows, filling up for the sparse winter ahead. In the distance I heard crashing through the trees. The noise was getting closer and I looked up to see two mule deer running in our direction. The noise and ruckus spooked the moose. The mother jumped into the river with the calf in close pursuit. They came out of the river in plain view where I photographed the mother reassuring her nervous young.
